"Winding Roads and Blue Waves"
By Anonymous
I was hesitant to come out here to see my brother, especially with our un-resolved issues. I’m not comfortable with these winding roads either. The only good thing about this trip is being up close to the water, it’s quite beautiful actually.
As I approach another bend I attempt to turn. My steering wheel is all locked up, it’s doing absolutely nothing. I stomp on my brake... that’s broken as well. What’s going on? They worked fine a minute ago. My gas pedal is the the only thing working. I knew I shouldn’t have come out here! I can’t continue to let him take advantage of me. It’s too late now, I should’ve talked to him, to tell him how I feel.
“Oh my god!” I scream as my the front of my car collides with the guard rail. The guard rail shreds apart like string cheese and my windshield suddenly looks like a spider’s web as I go sailing over the edge. The front of my car is crumpled like a tin can, partially obscuring my view. The only thing I can see below me is the harmonious blue waves.
I try to think of the procedure. I’ve seen this somewhere, I should know how to survive this, yet nothing comes to mind. As I take it all in, I realize I’m strangely calm. I brace for impact... not fearing for my life anymore. I’m just going to let it happen-
My eyes open and it’s dark. I hear the hum and feel the breeze of my bedside fan. I take my phone off my nightstand and find my brothers contact. I can’t believe a nightmare finally made me do what Ive wanted to do for so long.
“Hey man, you up?” I ask.
“Now I am. What’s going on? It’s like two in the morning.” He says groggily.
“I think we need to talk.”
